20 Nov RAISING CLARITY’s Radical Gratitude Practice: Appreciation is a Strategy for Having More of What We Want
Appreciation is a strategy for having more of what we want
This is my radical thanksgiving post.
Every time of year is good to surface the wisdom too often hidden within gratitude and appreciation.
That’s what this gratitude practice does.
Gratitude is a powerful, peaceful path to abundance
Lynne Twist writes, “what you appreciate, appreciates.” Whatever we are grateful for, we get more of. It is wise to be grateful for a lot because many of us want quite a lot!
Let me share the gratitude practice I received to do myself, and then share if I liked it.
I did like it; I was astonished by what it taught me!
I hope you are, too.
Abundance is flow
“Abundance” means “flow.”
It means overflow, actually. If we want to unblock our flow, we need to remove blocks to what abundance is bringing us.
Being “in the flow” means we allow all that comes. We don’t need to adore all that comes. We do not even have to like what comes. Flow doesn’t need our vote. It needs us to allow it. To accept it as part of what it means to be human on this planet, in flow. “Grow through what you go through” is how I saw this on a t-shirt recently. Here is a more detailed post about doing this.
Emotions are often what keep us from embracing flow. Here is a detailed post about this key aspect of unblocking flow.
And I created a whole category of blog posts about healing your money flow, here.
Appreciation as a strategy means allowing flow
So, flow means flow. Choosing to allow more of our lives into–and out of–our lives. This is what I’ve understood from doing this gratitude practice.
It has helped my flow and helped me flow. Enormously.
I continue to do a version of it almost daily.

- Center in gratitude for what you have that you deserve. Allow yourself to feel genuine thankfulness for what you have earned and feel you deserve. Enjoy the rich detail. Revel in it: you have earned this, you deserve it.
- Now, shift to feeling grateful for what you’ve been given that you didn’t earn but you have been blessed with. It’s ok to feel grateful for blessings. It’s important, in fact. Feel thankful for this abundance you’ve been given in rich detail. Revel in it.
- Now, shift into awareness of all you have that you don’t want and feel you did nothing to deserve. Simply bring it into awareness in this grateful space. Can you also be thankful for this?

Posted at 19:08h, 30 NovemberI will be doing this exercise and sharing with a group of women that I meet on a monthly basis. This seems like a powerful exercise. Just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes in a full of gratitude kind of way.
And in terms of the offer of free philanthropic coaching. I dismissed it the first time because I don’t feel like I have money to give. But this second look at it I think it might be one of the best gifts I can give to my partner. We have a budget and we don’t include any giving in it at this time but I see my partner always keeps the requests for gifts from organizations he loves for months at a time – until I throw them away. This makes me feel that he would appreciate a conversation about how we could work more philanthropy in our budget or others ways we can give to his beloved organizations and causes.
