Are You Willing to Change Your Thoughts to Allow Abundance?

sculptured curving tree and monk standing in front of a bench, with the quotation, "We are shaped by our thoughts: we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves," attributed to the Buddha.

Are you willing to change your thoughts to allow abundance? The quote above is very similar to the one I work with in this regard: The thought manifests as the word, the word manifests as the deed, the deed develops into habit, and the habit hardens into character. So watch the thought and its ways with care. I appreciate the beauty of this copyright-free image, a gift from Hartwig HKD.

Are You Willing to Change Your Thoughts to Allow Abundance?

One of the reasons I offer RAISING CLARITY is so I can work at a subtle, inner, level. It’s so much simpler to deal with problems in thought form. And when we get used to looking for problems at the subtle level, we also realize  they are much easier to see than in the taken-for-granted physical world.

If you pay attention, you can watch yourself create your world with your thoughts.

Step 1: Noticing Thoughts About Abundance

I am fascinated by what I find quietly whispering in the back of my mind–or in metaphors or mental pictures (my own or soul-colleagues’).

This morning, I became aware I was unwilling to receive abundance. Honestly, it shocks me too. After all this time!

But I heard myself think, “Oh, I’ll never have enough money to do that.” What?

Says who?

Who says I’ll never have enough money? Well, clearly:

I do!

Egad. This is just plain silly. Why would I want to think that I’ll never have enough money? I wouldn’t!

But obviously, that is what I’ve been doing. So at the subtle level, I must feel more comfortable thinking that way. It makes sense, given my background. You may resonate with this. It’s not unusual.

But who needs it?! I don’t. You probably don’t need it either.

Step 2: Changing Thoughts About Abundance

So this morning, in response, I began by creating a new thought.  It’s not complicated. The mind is a creature of habit. (See the photo at the top of this post + the quotation in the caption as well.) It operates simply and primitively in many ways. It can be trained!

The new thought I created was therefore not complicated. It didn’t have to be. My new thought was:

“Of course, I’ll have the money to do that.”

And my thought came with a picture of myself doing that thing. (I didn’t even try to create the picture, that’s just how I think. You may as well.)

Notice this isn’t an affirmation. Affirmations can make us work way too hard, although I also think they are fine if they work for you. I just observe thoughts and counterbalance ones I dislike with a healthier thought. Just once.

And then maybe I blog about it, for good measure, to go from thought to word to deed so the thought becomes embodied in my character. Bringing it into the physical makes it more concrete. Money is a feature of the physical world; it doesn’t exist anywhere else. (Abundance does, however.) So making concrete my thought that I can have whatever money I like to do whatever I like feels important to me.

Step 3: The Point is Allowing Abundance

My point here was not affirming I will have the thing old me had the initial silly thought about (I don’t even want it)–but I do want to think of myself differently! The Universe is an intrinsically abundant place. It IS Everything. This is where we live, and where we come from. So:

I care that I allow abundance.

It’s that simple. And it’s what I care about for you, and why perhaps you read this blog, patiently for the last month, without a new post in it–until today.

Mwah!

This rang true for me as well. The part of affirmations has alway been a sticky point with me. They are sooo much work. Your technique is powerful and simple!! Thank you!
